Lawn Aeration

Lawn Aeration Lawn aeration involves the removal of small soil plugs or cores out of the lawn. Known as a core aerator, the machine removes 1/2 to 3/4 inch diameter cores of soil and deposits them on your lawn. Aeration holes are typically 1-3 inches deep and 2-6 inches apart. Other types of aerators push solid spikes or tines into the soil without removing a plug (spiking). These are not as effective because they can contribute to compaction.

The best time to aerate Bermuda Grass is when the grass is growing quickly while Fescue should be aerated during the fall months. It is also a good opportunity to overseed grasses at this time so the seeds fall in to the holes and germinate easier. Call us and we can tell you what type of grass you are growing as well as if and when it should be aerated.
